DSE Postural Assessments & Massage
Helping desk-based workers move better, hurt less, and work more comfortably.
If you spend hours a day at a screen, the way you sit, position your equipment, and hold your body has a direct impact on your physical health. Neck tension, shoulder tightness, lower back pain, headaches and wrist discomfort are among the most common complaints for desk-based workers — and they're largely preventable.
I offer Display Screen Equipment (DSE) postural assessments combined with hands-on massage therapy to address both the cause and the symptoms. It's a practical, effective and often immediate intervention for individuals and teams.
What Is a DSE Assessment?
Under the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992, employers in the UK are required to assess and reduce the risks associated with screen-based work. A DSE assessment looks at:
Workstation setup — screen height, distance and angle; chair height and support; keyboard and mouse positioning
Posture habits — how you sit, hold your head, position your arms and use your body throughout the day
Movement patterns — how often you change position, take breaks and manage physical fatigue
Symptoms — any existing pain, tension, headaches or discomfort related to screen use
Most standard DSE assessments stop there — they give you a report and leave you to act on it. Mine goes further.
Assessment + Massage: A More Complete Approach
Following the postural assessment, I provide targeted soft tissue massage to directly address the tension and restriction already present in your body. This might focus on the neck, shoulders, upper back, forearms and hands — wherever screen use has created the most impact.
The result: you leave with not just a clearer understanding of what needs to change at your workstation, but with noticeably reduced tension and a practical self-care plan to maintain the improvement.
What's included:
Full DSE workstation assessment (in person at your desk)
Posture and movement observation and feedback
Personalised recommendations for workstation adjustments
Targeted soft tissue massage (30–60 minutes)
Written assessment report for your records or employer
Self-care advice and simple movement exercises to use at your desk

Common Questions
Is a DSE assessment a legal requirement? Yes — employers are legally required to carry out DSE assessments for workers who regularly use screens for significant parts of their work. This includes hybrid and home workers.
Can I book this as an individual, or only through my employer? Both. Individuals can book a personal assessment and massage without going through their employer.
Do I need to be in pain to benefit? No. Many people find that an assessment and treatment helps prevent problems developing — particularly those who have recently changed jobs, moved to working from home, or increased their screen hours.
Can this help with RSI? Yes. Repetitive strain injuries of the wrist, forearm and hand are a common result of prolonged keyboard and mouse use. Soft tissue massage combined with postural changes can significantly reduce symptoms.
