Why I Love Teaching Massage (And Why It’s So Powerful to Learn)

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with so many different bodies, stories, and lives. One thing has become very clear to me: touch is transformatie — and it shouldn’t feel mysterious or out of reach.

That’s a big part of why I’ve started teaching massage and bodywork to individuals small groups and couples. It has become one of the most fulfilling parts of my work to share the knowledge that I have gained over the past 20 plus years.

There is something incredibly special about watching someone realize, “I can do this. I can help someone I love feel better.”

Massage Isn’t Just for Professionals

You don’t have to be a therapist to give meaningful, effective touch.

In my classes, I focus on simple, practical techniques that are:

  • Easy to learn

  • Safe to use at home

  • Deeply relaxing

  • Effective for everyday aches and tension

I break things down step by step — how to use your body properly, how much pressure to use, where to work, and just as importantly, where not to. My goal is to make massage feel accessible, not intimidating.

Because when you understand even the basics, everything changes.

For Couples: A Whole New Way to Connect

Teaching couples has been especially beautiful.

We spend so much of our lives in our heads, on our phones, rushing from one thing to the next. Massage creates a space where partners slow down and truly pay attention to one another. It becomes:

  • A way to communicate without words

  • A chance to give care instead of just talking about it

  • A tool for comfort during stressful times

  • A ritual of connection and trust

It’s not about being perfect. It’s about being present.

For Small Groups: Learning Together Is Powerful

In small group classes, there’s this lovely shared energy. People laugh, learn, practice, and support each other. It becomes more than just a class — it’s a shared experience.

Learning massage in a group setting:

  • Builds confidence faster

  • Makes the experience fun and relaxed

  • Allows you to give and receive

  • Helps you tune into different bodies and needs

And because the groups are small, everyone gets personal guidance. You’re not just watching — you’re doing. I also share so much more knowledge than just massage in these groups that can help you to feel lighter, brighter and happier in your body.

The Real Benefits Go Beyond Muscles

Yes, massage can help with:

  • Neck and shoulder tension

  • Headaches

  • Back tightness

  • Stress and poor sleep

But what I love most is what happens underneath all of that.

People leave with:

  • More body awareness

  • More confidence using touch

  • A new way to care for others

  • A deeper understanding of how tension builds (and how to ease it)

They don’t just receive a treatment — they gain a skill for life.

Why This Means So Much to Me

For me, teaching massage feels like passing something on.

I’ve spent years learning about the body, how it holds stress, and how powerful safe, caring touch can be. Sharing that knowledge feels like expanding the circle of care. Instead of one pair of hands helping, now there are many.

And that’s a beautiful thing.

If you’ve ever wanted to:

  • Help your partner unwind after a long day

  • Support a friend or family member with tension

  • Feel more confident using touch

  • Or simply learn something meaningful and hands-on

These classes are for you.

Because everyone deserves to feel better in their body — and sometimes, the most powerful tool is already in your hands.
